Rebellion in the Congress party over expansion of cabinet by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has intensified further.

On Thursday morning, over 1,000 supporters of Challakere MLA T Raghumurthy who include office-bearers of district KPCC, zill panchayat, taluk panchayat and gram panchayat members left for Bengaluru by several buses and private vehicles to stage a protest in front of KPCC office seeking a berth to their leader.

They have threatened to resign en mass if Raghumurthy is not accomodated in the cabinet.

Most of them hail from Parashurampur, Hotteppanahalli, Gollarahatti, Turuvanur, Dodderi, Jajur, Megala and surrounding villages.

Meanwhile, Vande Mataram Jagrati Vedike members staged a protest near the deputy commissioner's office on Thursday morning against the party high command's decision of denying a berth to Raghumurthy.

Out of six Assembly segments in the district, the Congress party has won only in Challakere segment. Hence, there were high hopes that he would be accommodated in the ministry.
