The Chief Minister's Political Secretary, B J Puttaswamy alleged that during the six-month period from March to August 2006 when Deve Gowda's son H D Kumaraswamy's was chief minister, members of their family transacted business of more than Rs 101 crore, which he alleged, was amassed through "influence, threat and misuse of power".

"This black-money was distributed to the entire family, which floated companies to make it white money in a systematic manner", he said.

Meanwhile, JDS spokesperson Y S V Datta said Deve Gowda's family members are having their own businesses and they have the right to do so. He denied allegations of any wrong-doing.

The moot question is from which source the money has come to their accounts and whether there was "misuse" of power by government officials, he said.

"Are there any documents to suggest that there was misuse of power ?" he said, adding JDS would welcome if Puttaswamy sought Lokayukta inquiry.

Puttaswamy, however, said he would submit the documents to the Lok Ayukta and request the ombudsman to conduct an enquiry.

The JDS and BJP are locked in a battle of attrition over alleged scams for the past few weeks, with each one threatening to bring out more dirt about the other.

Yeddyurappa has come under persistent attacks from JD-S, which has levelled a series of allegations about denotification of lands and allotment of prime urban plots to his kith and kin.

The Chief Minister has repeatedly vowed to "expose" JDS and "not to rest" till that party is decimated.
