MP Suresh Angadi alleged that the Congress is conspiring to divide Hindus and Muslims by naming the Haj Bhavan in Bengaluru after Tipu Sultan.

Angadi told reporters in Belagavi on Tuesday, that the Haj Bhavan was sanctioned by the Yeddyurappa-led BJP government and funds were also released for its construction then. However, now, the Congress seeks to divide Hindus and Muslims by naming it after Tipu Sultan.

The Congress could instead, have chosen to name it after former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, a patriot and scientist. "Congress wants to gain political mileage out of it," he noted.

"Congress's culture is to divide and rule. In Kashmir, its leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz have been making anti-India statements and encouraging stone pelting," he alleged.
