A couple from Mysuru killed selves by jumping into Visvesvaraya Canal near the Brindavan Gardens at KRS, Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya district, on Tuesday. The incident came to light on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Devaiah (47) and his wife Vijayalakshmi (44), were the residents of Hinkal in Mysuru. Devaiah was working as a security supervisor, while his wife was a teacher at Vijaya School in the locality.
According to the death note, found in the abandoned mobike belonging to Devaiah, the couple took the drastic step unable to bear the death of their only son due to cancer five years ago. They were also suffering from serious ailments, as mentioned by the couple in the note. They had mentioned a cellphone number at the end of the note, that was later traced as that of Shankar, brother of Vijayalakshmi.
