CPI(M) holds protest, slams union, state governments

They laid siege to taluk office as part of statewide call

Earlier, the protest rally started from Hemavathy Circle and culminated at the tahsildar’s office. Tension prevailed for sometime when they laid siege to taluk office.

They alleged that the governments were silent on illegal mining and plundering of natural resources by mining rich and influential people. The ministers in the State Cabinet were into illegal mining for their selfish reasons.

The common man was struggling hard live due to rise in the prices of essential commodities. The ruling party had failed to address the housing problem in urban areas.

They also flayed the UPA Government and said it was delaying revision in wages.

The Centre was planning increase in the FDI in many sectors.

The State government notified over 500 acres on the outskirts of Bangalore after Yeddyurappa came to power. The relatives of some ministers and legislators had been involved in denotification scam.

Their demands include releasing ` 25 lakh grants to Gram Panchayat to take up development works, implement recommendations of the Third Finance, disbursement of salary to Gram Panchayat employees every month, increase basic pay for clerks, computer operators, electricians, angawandi workers, assistants, watermen, attenders, peons and others.

Later, they submitted  a memorandum to the tahsildhar addressed to the governor.
