'JD(S) will continue tie-up with CPI, BSP'

Last Updated 11 December 2015, 18:35 IST

Janata Dal (Secular) Campaigning Committee President H H Devaraj said the party will continue its alliances with CPI, BSP and progressive parties in the forthcoming Legislative Council election.

Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, he said secular parties need to be united to defeat communal forces.

The party has completed first round of its tour in the district and it received an overwhelming response from the public, he said and expressed confidence that the the party will win the election.

The BJP and Congress have lost their eligibility morally by giving out ridiculous statements and thereby exhibiting cheap tactics. If they do not stop their loose talk, the JD(S) will give an answer, he said.

Instead of criticising other parties, the Congress has to tell the people about the achievements of its candidates in the last six years. “Let them make it public that how many MLCs of that party have visited the panchayats and how many times they have listened to people’s woes,” he challenged.

MLA B B Ningaiah said the party will not stand the comments, passed by other parties, which are in bad taste. The voters should exercise their franchise without falling prey to the allurements by candidates. This will help in creating a clean political system, he said and added that the party will win 10 MLC seats in the State. Party candidate Ranjan Ajith Kumar, district unit president Manjappa and leaders Ashok, Holadagadde Girish and M D Ramesh were present.
