Mysore airport may resume services soon

If all goes well, Mysore Airport may resume commercial flight operations sooner or later.

Principal secretary to the department of commerce and industries M N Vidyashankar on Friday said that following a move from the government, two private airlines have evinced interest in starting commercial flight operations from Mysore. According to the survey conducted by Spice Jet and Indigo airlines, there is a demand for flights to and from- Mysore- Coimbatore, Mangalore and Mumbai. Unlike previous years, there is no demand between Mysore and Bangalore route, with the international airport in the latter city, being far from the heart of the city.

Speaking to media, after inaugurating Deal It biz, a three-day exhibition of electronic gadgets, at Hotel Regaalis in the city, the officer justified the decisions to open airports in Hassan and Shimoga too, as there is a demand.  The officer also announced to patronage IT biz, besides instructing the organisers to host conferences and organise more number of students to visit such meets.

The officer said that the department he represents will arrange for the speakers including the big names in the arena to share their wide vista of knowledge in the conferences. More number of youths should be benefited by such exercises as they are the future of the country. He also said that organising such conferences and exhibitions in the commercial part of the city will be a plus.  He said that Mysore is set to benefit in a bigger way in the coming years, as giants in the international arena are turning towards Bangalore.

The three-day expo is a single stop for the electronic gadgets from laptops to accessories, PCs and CCTV cameras, digital projector to screen  among several others.
