Mysore Medical College to adopt D B Kuppe Panchayat

He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Pranthyotsava-2010’ organised by Lions Club International at the MMC&RI Platinum Jubilee Hall at J K Grounds here on Sunday.
Ramdas said that health protection would be provided to all villagers under the D B Kuppe Panchayat and also they will be encouraged to grow ayurveda herbs, which acts as a source of employment. The revenue generated from selling the herbs would be used for the development of the village, he added.

Furthermore, he said that D B Kuppe Panchayat would be adopted within the end of this year. He also urged Lions Club to join hands to develop the villages coming under the panchayat.

Library
Observing that families of patients admitted to K R Hospital stay in the city for around 10-15 days he said that Lions Club has opened a rest house for them. Also a library would be opened at the hospital for the people to gain knowledge, he added.

Ramdas said that a library has already been opened at Kidwai Hospital in Bangalore and has received a good response from the people. Furthermore, an ‘Attendance Association’ would be opened and all the details of book borrowers would be recorded, he said. Libraries would be opened in all the other hospitals too, he added.

Political mud-slinging
Commenting on the current political mud-slinging in the State, Ramdas said this has resulted in decline in values in the society. People have to to work together for the betterment of the society. Commending Lions Club for working to build a better society, he suggested them to expand their service network.

Acceptance
Lions Club International Governor Dr P R S Chethan accepted the Minister’s offer to join hands to adopt D B Kuppe Panchayat.

Later, Minister Ramdas was presented the ‘Janaseva Ratna’ award on the occasion.
Region-6 President S K Bhaskar, Pratima Bhaskar, Region-7 President S Arunkumar, Veena Arunkumar, Lions Club President N S Muralidhar, advisors M V Deviprasad, M N Jayaprakash, treasurere K S Chandramohan, K S Chandramohan, G Rishabdev, C Channamaadegowda, H A Nagesh Rao, B G Pradeep Kumar, M S Mahendra Kiran were present.

Lions Club members dressed in a variety of costume gathered the attention of participants at ‘Pranthyotsava-2010’. A person dressed as Santa Claus distributed chocolates to children, More than 800 office-bearers of Lions Club from Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Kodagu districts participated in the programme.
