Mysore-one centres to check Aadhaar card status

Talks are on to extend the timings of enrolment

 Noting the gap in date of enrolment and receipt of Aadhaar card, provisions are made in Mysore-One centres to verify the status of Aadhaar registration.

 “Individuals who have not received their Aadhaar cards, after verifying the status of their enrolment, can either get an e-Aadhaar print out or will be directed to re-enrol for the card,” said K K Sharma, assistant director general, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), head office, Bangalore.

He said that re-enrolment is necessary, only if first enrolment is rejected. There is no need to enrol without verifying the status of the card, he asserted.

Speaking to Deccan Herald he said that there was pressure at enrolment centres due the linkage of LPG subsidies with Aadhaar card, as there has been a ‘renewed interest’ for people to enrol, he said.

Speaking on the e-Aadhaar print outs issued at Mysore-one centres, he said that a token fees of Rs 10 will be levied to account for internet usage and other charges. The e-Aadhaar cards will serve all the purposes of the Aadhaar card.

Responding to queries on the mistakes carried in the Aadhaar cards, he said that wrong names and other aspects in the card can be updated online through the UIDAI website.

He said that an updation form was available on the web, which can be filled and sent to the UIDAI office in Bangalore for corrections in the card.

Sources in the district administration said that a proposal has been sent to the Centre for E-governance to increase the number of enrolment centres in the district.
The centres are expected to double from 25 to 50, if the proposal is sanctioned.

Sharma said that there were talks to extend the timings of enrolment centres form 7 am to 8 pm following the long queues at enrolment centres around the district.

This will help in issuing cards to a small percentage of population, yet to be enrolled and issued with Aadhaar cards, he said.

Mysore had recorded a healthy enrolment rate of 95 per cent in the first phase, of which majority of cards were disbursed, he added.

Aadhaar linked Direct Cash Transfer scheme was launched on a pilot basis in the district on January 1.
