The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers on Wednesday urged Deputy Commissioner Umesh H Kusugal to recommend the government to sack Tahsildar Manjunath who has been involved in goondagiri.

“If a decision is not taken at the earliest, it will be inevitable to stage a protest,” said Ravi Krishna Reddy, co-convenor of the State unit of Aam Aadmi Party.

The party activists who had gathered near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday morning gheraoed deputy commissioner as soon as he entered the office. They poured complaints against the tahsildar and submitted a memorandum demanding to sack him.

They complained that the tahsildar who had to provide necessary information to RTI activists had lodged a complaint against them with the Superintendent of Police. He had also hired goondas to assault them and also threatened them over phone, they alleged. They even produced a recorded message of the teleconversation to the deputy commissioner.

They also alleged that the tahsildar was involved in a tug of war with Assistant Commissioner Vijaya. He had also threatened to arrest the AAP workers, when they had staged a protest in front of his office recently.

The deputy commissioner assured that the difference of opinion between Tahsildar Manjunath and Vijaya had come to his attention and notices had been served on both. A report would be submitted to the government after receiving their reply, he added. A probe will be conducted into other allegations, the officer promised.
