ED submits case info report against DKS

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday submitted a copy of the enforcement case information report (ECIR) registered against water resources minister D K Shivakumar in a sealed cover to the Karnataka High Court. The judge went through the contents of the sealed cover and returned the same to the counsel. The court stated that it shall ask for the ECIR in future from ED, if required.

The ED also submitted before the court that investigation by the I-T department and ED is pending and that the agencies have not sought for any documents from the accused. The ED has only issued the summons and has directed them to appear in person. The prima facie documents are available at present.

The counsel submitted that there is a possibility of the investigators finding new names and new evidence in the case during the course of the investigation. The counsel also added that ED has not seized any assets of the petitioner and no action has been taken against the petitioner. The ED has also submitted that the case is in the state of the preliminary investigation. Seeking for quashing of the summons is premature at this stage and the court should not entertain the same. The court adjourned the case to March 18.
