In a first, PAC meet to be held in Kalaburagi

For the first time in the city, the Public Accounts’ Committee (PAC) meeting will be held on November 27 and 28. The members will also undertake on-the-spot-study.

MP and Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge is the PAC chairman. The committee has 22 members including seven Rajya Sabha members. About 40-60 officials of various departments of the Union government will take part in the meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region Development Board (HKRDB)’s office. Kharge is the PAC chairman for the second time and scrutiny of accounts of various departments will be held for two days.

Deputy Commissioner R Venkateshkumar said that the committee members and officials will visit the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College and Hospital and Gulbarga Airport on the first day and get on-the-spot information from the officials concerned. After which, they will visit the Central University of Karnataka (CUK) located at Kadaganchi in Aland taluk.

The members will visit the Kalaburagi Railway Station after holding meeting with the officials of the Railway department, he explained.

Accommodation for committee members and officials have been made at Aiwan-E-Shahi Guest House, Gulbarga University, Central University of Karnataka and hotels.

The district administration is making all arrangements for the meeting. Chiefs of various departments and public undertakings will take part in the meet, the deputy commissioner added.
