Four youths killed in car-lorry collision in Ballari

 Four youths, returning from an excursion, were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a car and a lorry on National Highway-50 near Shivapur in the taluk on Thursday morning, reports DHNS from Kudilgi (Ballari district).

The deceased have been identified as Kiran Veerendra Navi (20), Manjunath Hadapad (19), both residents of Sindagi town, Shivananda Hadapad (23) of Halemuddinakatte and Basavaraj Navi (25) of Khakandki village in Sindagi taluk. Kiran Navi, who was drinving the car, is an employee of a private company in Bengaluru. He had availed leave and had returned home four days back.

Kiran, along with three of his friends, had gone for a trip to Mysuru. After holidaying in Mysuru for a couple of days, they left for Sindagi on Wednesday night. In the early hours of Friday, a lorry coming from Hosapete side rammed the car head-on. The impact was such that all four occupants of the car were killed on the spot. Kudligi DySP Savishankar Naik CPI Bankali Nagappa, SI Halesh and staff rushed to the accident spot. They had a tough time in retrieving the bodies from the mangled car. Kudligi police have registered a case and investigations are on.
