Haveri tops State in utilisation of RDPR funds

It has spent Rs 91.51 cr of the granted Rs 110.74 cr

According to the progress report and the rank list released by the RDPR department, Mandya is ranked last. The department reviews development in every district and also ranks them based on their performance once every six months. Dharwad, the home district of the RDPR Minister Jagadhish Shettar is ranked 10th while Bangalore stands at 21st position.

The Central and State governments sanction crores of rupees under various schemes including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Gram Swaraj, Suvarna Gramodyoga, Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak and Suvarna Gram Sadak Yojana.

However, many districts in the State are reluctant to utilise the funds, the report states.

According to the report, Haveri district, which was sanctioned Rs 110.74 crore during the current financial year, had utilised Rs 91.51 crore till the end of September. The district has spent a whopping 83 per cent of the funds in the first six months. It has to now utilise only Rs 19.23 crore in the next six months, said Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Umesh Kusugal.

DK second

With ranks allotted on the basis of the utilisation of funds, Dakshina Kannada district stands second with 79 per cent followed by Kolar with 75 per cent utilisation.

Bangalore Rural and Uttara Kannada are ranked fourth and fifth respectively with 71 and 70 per cent. Bangalore Urban with 40 per cent utilisation of funds is ranked 21st while Mandya is ranked 30th with just 22 per cent utilisation.

Other districts

Chitradurga-sixth, Chikmagulur-seventh, Yadgir-eighth, Belgaum-ninth, Davangere-11, Chikkaballapur-12, Shimoga-13, Raichur-14, Gadag-15, Bidar-16, Bijapur-17, Udupi-18, Kodagu-19, Ramanagar-20, Gulbarga-22, Bagalkot-23, Hassan-24, Bellary-25, Koppal-26, Chamarajnagar-27, Mysore-28 and Tumkur-29.

The hard work by officials and elected representatives is a major factor that helped the district take the numero uno position which was ranked 14th last year, said Haveri Zilla Panchayat president Manjunath Olekaar.

He said all Gram Panchayats regularly conducted meetings to prepare action plans for implementation of the schemes. This apart officers and elected representatives supervised the implementation, he added.

RDPR Minister Jagadhish Shettar has congratulated Zilla Panchayat president Manjunath Olekaar, ZP CEO Umesh Kusugal and their staff on their achievement.
