HC bids farewell to Justice A S Bopanna

The Karnataka State Bar Council on Thursday gave a warm farewell to Justice A S Bopanna who has been elevated as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. With his elevation, the strength of the judges in the HC has come down to 28 against the sanctioned strength of 62.

Justice Bopanna served as a judge in the Karnataka High Court for 12 years. Justice Bopanna cited Socrates who has said that the hallmark of a judge to hear courteously; answer wisely; considered soberly and decide impartially.

He also added that the secret of happiness is not in doing what you like but in liking what you do.

Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, appreciated Justice Bopanna for his meticulous approach and cool temperament. He exhibited a high level of compassion and never lost patience in an unpleasant situation, he added.

Justice Bopanna expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family and personal staff and the legal fraternity. He added that he felt like the richest person who had been showered with blessings and good wishes and this was his wealth.

Justice Bopanna was born on May 20, 1959, at Madikeri. He was elevated as Judge of Karnataka HC on January 6, 2006.
