CM has agreed to change my portfolio, claims GTD

Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda on Monday said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has agreed to change his portfolio.

Devegowda, who belongs to the JD(S) and was keen on getting PWD or Energy or Transport portfolio, has been sulking ever since he was allotted Higher Education.

Speaking to reporters here, Devegowda, an 8th standard pass, said, “It’s not that I am incapable of handling higher education portfolio, but I want to handle a portfolio that is associated with farmers.”

Devegowda had emerged giant killer by defeating former chief minister Siddaramaiah in the Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency. The minister said he had spoken to JD(S) leaders H D Deve Gowda and H D Revanna besides the chief minister. “They have agreed to change my portfolio,” he said.

In another part of the city, Kumaraswamy said a final decision on changing Devegowda’s portfolio was yet to be taken.
