Accident victims get compensated at Lok Adalat

The road accident victims of two families were give compensation of Rs 17 lakh and Rs 18 lakh respectively in mega Lok Adalat held in district court here on Saturday.

Manjunath, who lost the vision of both the eyes due to accident that took place on Ayanur-Hanagerekatte road in Shivamogga taluk on December 14 in 2018 was given cheque of Rs 17 lakh. A speeding bus rammed into the bike when he was heading towards home from behind. He sustained severe injuries in the incident and he was taken to the hospital. But the doctor who treated him issued 100% disability certificate. He had filed petition under Motor Vehicles Act in the court seeking compensation on October 21, 2019. The issue was settled and he was given cheque of Rs 17 lakh as compensation.

In another accident case, family members of Anand Babu were given cheque of Rs 18 lakh. The incident took place when a lorry rammed into the bike in which he was heading towards home near Sangolli Rayanna circle on Shankar Mutt road on February 2, 2018. He succumbed to injuries in a private hospital in the city. Anand Babu was survived by wife, two children, mother and unmarried sister. So, they filed petition in the court seeking compensation on October 10, 2018. Principal District & Sessions Judge Mustafa Hussain presented cheque to the kin of the accident victims.

As many as 13,214 cases were settled in various courts across the district in mega lok adalat held on Saturday.
