The row over the chanting of pro-Modi slogans at a Rahul Gandhi event in the city refused to die down with the Congress on Wednesday terming the BJP’s stance as “uncultured behaviour”.

To a question by media persons, Congress internal coordination committee chairman Ramalinga Reddy also agreed that there may have been an intelligence failure which led to the embarrassing situation.

“Which techie comes to office with placards? That they had come prepared is enough to show that it is a conspiracy by the BJP. Even if they were not BJP workers, the party chiefs should have condemned such behaviour instead of supporting them,” he said.

Won’t contest parliamentary polls

Congress MLA Ramalinga Reddy said he would not contest Lok Sabha polls though the party showed interest in his candidature from Bangalore South constituency. “It is true that they asked me. But I told them that I don’t want to go to Parliament. There are three good candidates, including K Govindraj and Krishnappa. We will probably field one of them,” he said.

To a question on whether his daughter Soumya Reddy would be a possible candidate, Reddy answered in the negative stating that she was still a new entrant.
