Five farmer families at Arasikere village in Tarikere taluk have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha election.

The elected representatives have failed to prevent the atrocities by the Forest Department officials on the farmers, said villager Vishukumar.

Speaking to reporters, he said, “Five farmers have been carrying out farming activities on survey number 10, 11, 12, 13 and 19 at Arasikere. It is a revenue land with RTC documents. Farmers have availed loan by mortgaging the land. However, the Forest Department officials are troubling them in carrying out farming activities.”

“Farmer Jayanna cultivates arecanut on survey number 12. Two borewells sunk by him have failed. When he took up the work on laying the pipeline to draw water from a borewell situated on his friend’s land, the officials posed a hindrance and assaulted the earth mover driver,” he added.
