Member of Parliament and JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda said that he shared a special bond with the people of Kadur.

Addressing the JD(S) workers’ meet on Thursday, he said he was closely associated with the place back to the days when Birur was a Parliamentary constituency.

“Birur and Kadur were combined to form Hassan Lok Sabha constituency during the delimitation of constituencies. People of Kadur have supported me and I have been allocating funds to Kadur, without any discrimination. I will contribute to the development of Kadur in future as well,” he said.

He called upon the JD(S) workers to shun differences among themselves to strengthen the party. “Active workers are assets of JD(S),” he added.

Public Works Department Minister H D Revanna said awareness would be created among the people about the achievements of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Permanent irrigation

Former minister Y S V Datta said there was a need to implement a permanent irrigation project for Kadur. Datta said though he does not oppose Hebbe project, Gondi project, if implemented, would be beneficial to Kadur at large. Madagadakere, Ayyanakere and Vishnusamudra lakes should be rejuvenated, he added.

Datta said most backward communities like Uppara need reservation facilities. He sought a grant of Rs one crore from Deve Gowda for Dr Kaduru Venkatalakshamma Samskruthika Bhavana.

JD(S) Taluk President Bhandary Shrinivas submitted a memorandum, containing various demands, to Deve Gowda.
