The Third Additional District and Sessions Court found a man guilty of murdering his cousin (brother) and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The accused is Rajesh alias Naveen, a resident of Kodange Kodi in Balthila. He had murdered Ranjith, who was his uncle’s (Doddappa) son on May 15, 2017. Rajesh was an alcoholic. Ranjith had tried to reform Rajesh several times in the past. As a result, Rajesh had developed an enmity with Ranjith.
On May 15, 2017, Ranjith was at his house when Rajesh stabbed him to death. When Ganesh Poojary tried to prevent Rajesh from stabbing Ranjith, Poojary too was injured. Though Ranjith was rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last.
A case was registered at Bantwal Town Police Station. Then IPS Probationary Officer Nagesh D L had filed a charge sheet to the court. Judge Basappa Balappa Jakathi pronounced the judgement. As many as 19 witnesses had deposed before the judge.
