MP Nalin Kumar Kateel refuses to accept 'Brahmasri' award

Dakshina Kannada MP and BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel refused to accept the 'Brahmasri' award at a programme organised by Brahmasri Billava Vedike of Ullal on Sunday.

At 'Merugu 2021', a cultural programme organised by the Vedike near Thokkotu, Kateel said, "I am not eligible to receive the Brahmasri award. It is a big honour. In politics, B Janardhan Poojary is known for his honesty and corruption-free administration which he rendered as a union minister. I have not reached the level of Poojary. I have not achieved much in political life."

The conferring of the Brahmsri award on Kateel had triggered discussions on social media. Many had even questioned the reason and logic behind the honour as well.
