Members at the Town Panchayat monthly meeting resolved to construct a housing complex under housing for all scheme in the civic amenity (CA) site of the Housing Board Layout in Kushalnagar.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Town Panchayat president B Jayavardhan on Friday.

The members decided to build a housing complex on 84 cents of land in the Housing Board Layout for the poor shelterless in Town Panchayat jurisdiction.

The members alleged that the officials are implementing development works without bringing them to their notice. The members are not informed about the works.

The president said that an action plan has been prepared to auction the commercial complex and Venkateshwara Theatre in the third block, after its renovation, at a cost of
Rs 35 lakh.

Legal advisor R K Nagendra said that the dispute related to Venkateshwara Theatre has been decided in the court and it is now the Town Panchayat’s property.

The land of the theatre is in the possession of the Town Panchayat. The building should be utilised effectively. It can be converted into Town Panchayat office or marriage hall, he suggested.

Member Amrit Raj said that no rent has been collected from a commercial complex in Kaveri Layout. This has affected the revenue of the Town Panchayat.

Members Anand Kumar and K G Manu urged the Town Panchayat to acquire 1.08 cents of land in Kaveri Layout. The 40 stalls should be repaired and measures should be initiated to recover the rent.

Member Shambhulingappa said that the ban on plastic should be implemented effectively in the Town Panchayat jurisdiction. To which, Health Inspector Uday Kumar said that already, the officials have started conducting raids on business establishments to check the usage of banned plastic. Awareness is also created among the public.

Member D K Thimmayya said that the police have failed to initiate action against illegal parking of vehicles on the road.

The parking of vehicles on either side of the road from Tavarekere to toll gate is affecting the easy movement of vehicles, said members Renuka and Anand. To which, the traffic police promised to initiate measure after consulting senior officers.

TP vice president Sureyabanu, chief officer Sujay Kumar and others were present.
