Udupi CMC supplies water through tankers

With the water crisis aggravating in Udupi, the city municipal council started supplying water through tankers in the wards on Sunday.

The residents of Kalmadi, Moodabettu, Manchi and other areas received water through tankers. Water was supplied to PWD quarters, Kannarpadi, Bailooru, Car Street and Mission Street from Baje dam.

On Monday, water will be supplied to Bannaje, Matadabettu, Bannanje Garadi Road, behind Old DC office, Kadabettu, Jagannath Road, Brahmagiri, Gandhi Nagara, CPC Layout, Ambalpadi, Karavali Bypass, Kalikamba Nagara and Kannarpadi areas, said CMC Commissioner Anand C Kallolikar.

The ‘Shramadan’ by volunteers to desilt River Swarna for free flow of water, near Baje dam, entered Day Four on Sunday.

A large number of volunteers along with MLA Raghupathi Bhat had taken part in the ‘shramadan’. An earth mover has been pressed into service to break the boulders that obstruct flow of water.

The MLA also had launch with the volunteers.
