Yakshadhruva Patla Sambhrama on June 2

The Yakshadhruva Patla Sambhrama 2019 will be organised at Adyar Garden on the outskirts of the city on June 2, Patla Satish Shetty, founder – president of the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation, said on Saturday.

“K M Shetty, Mecoy Industries Mumbai managing director, will inaugurate the programme. Nitte Education Trust (NET) chairman N Vinay Hegde will preside over the programme. Paediatrician Dr Sandeep Rai will inaugurate the health camp,” he informed.

A blood donation camp will be held in association with the K S Hegde Medical Academy at 10 am. A free health camp will be held for Yakshagana artistes and family members.

Shetty added that ‘Yaksha Saptaswara’ by seven well-known Yakshagana Bhagavathas, including Padyana and Ammannaya will be organised at 11 am. Women’s Yakshagana – Natya Vaibhava by Kavyashri Ajeru, Amrutha, Divya and Apoorva will be held at 1.15 pm. Talamaddale by well-known Yakshagana artistes like Jabbar, Sadashiva Alva and Vijayashankar Alva will be held at 3 pm, he listed out.

Sanwi, Rashi and Hridan Patla will present a Yakshagana dance recital at 4.30 pm.

Shetty said that Yakshagana expert and critic Prof M Prabhakar Joshi will be awarded the ‘Patla Prashasti’. The Yakshadhruva Kala Gaurava award will be given to eight artistes – Peruvai Narayana Bhat, Kandavara Raghuram Shetty, Kairangala Narayana Holla, Dayamani S Shetty Ekkaru, Bantwal Jayaram Acharya, Airodi Govindappa, Venkappa Master Assaigoli and Rathna K Bhat Talenjeri.

“The family of 10 Yakshagana artistes who died recently will be given Rs 50,000 each. Financial assistance will be given to 15 selected artistes. Scholarships will be given to 250 children of Yakshagana artistes. A financial assistance of Rs 8 lakh will be given to the family of Dinesh Madiwala, who died in an accident recently,” said Shetty.

A unique experiment on Yakshagana ‘Kurukshethrakkondu Ayoga’ will be held at 7 pm, he added.

Shetty said a sports meet will also be organmised for Thenkutittu and Badaguthittu Yakshagana artistes at Mangala Stadium on May 28.
