DHO denies cholera

Gadag District Health Officer D B Channashetty clarified that no case of cholera has been reported from Shantageri where many people have taken ill due to contaminated water.
He was speaking to reporters at Gajendragad where one woman died and 50 persons have been detected with gastroentritis, on Friday.

He visited the hospital where the affected were admitted for treatment.  He said that the water samples that were taken for test were found to be contaminated and urged the people not to consume it.

The authorities concerned at the Panchayat have been asked to initiate measures to supply potable water, he said.  The patients admitted at the hospital have no trace of cholera, he clarified.
