Minor girl raped in Dharwad

A minor girl has been allegedly raped by her uncle at Hire Malligawad village in Dharwad on Sunday.

On a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, the Dharwad rural police have arrested Shivappa Basappa Kallur (35).

The accused was in an inebriated state when he allegedly raped his niece. “Shivappa, who was in a drunken state, lured my daughter, who was playing near the house, with sweets. He took her to a farm on the outskirts of the village and sexually assaulted her,” said the victim’s father. The girl recounted the incident to her parents, he added. A complaint has been registered with the Dharwad police station.
