The Ramanagara district police on Thursday produced Kampli MLA J N Ganesh before a Ramanagara court which remanded him in judicial custody till March 6, 2019.

A special team of city police which arrested Ganesh in Gujarat, arrived at Kempegowda International Airport in the morning. The MLA was later escorted to Bidadi police station with tight security.

Senior police officials questioned Ganesh at the station and recorded his statement for over four hours before he was taken to a government hospital for medical examination as a part of the procedure. Later he was taken to the Ramanagara district court, where the judge asked Ganesh whether there was any form of harassment by the police for which Ganesh said no.

The police sought custody of Ganesh stating that investigation was still on. However, Ganesh sought leniency citing health issues. He stated he had severe stomach ache and was suffering from asthma since 2016. He also said that he was suffering from hernia. The judge asked him whether there were any medical records to substantiate his claims, which were not there at the time. The court remanded him to judicial custody. Based on the court direction, the Bidadi police escorted Ganesh to Parappana Agrahara where prison officials completed the formalities and medical check up before issuing him the undertrial prisoner number 1799.

While the prison staff were busy completing the formalities and filling up the required forms, Ganesh complained that he was suffering from stomach ache and sought medical treatment from outside. Senior prison officials, however turned down his request stating that the prison hospital can give him required treatment.
