Sarvamangala Shankar, Vice-chancellor of the Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts Univesrity, who is facing charges of forging signatures of Syndicate members, has written to the state government to conduct a thorough probe into the charges.

The VC is accused of forging signatures of Syndicate members C R Himanshu, Vasundhara Hegde, Fayaz Khan, Nagachandrika Bhat and A B Prashanth in a letter drafted to Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddi, recommending action against Registrar A Rangaswamy.

The members are said to have submitted a written complaint to Police Commissioner B Dayananda. Speaking to Deccan Herald, the VC said, being the head of the institution, she does not require signatures of members to write a letter against the Registrar. “A few people have forged the signatures of the members to write a letter in my name to defame me,” she said.
