Mysuru to host State film awards fete on Feb 28

 The State film awards for 2012-13 and 2013-14 will be presented at a gala ceremony at the Maharaja College grounds in the city, 6 pm onwards on February 28.

Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, N R Vishukumar, Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations, said, ‘The awards to be conferred (for the year 2012) include Dr Rajkumar award for M Bhaktavatsala, Puttanna Kanagal award for Chi Dattaraj and Dr Vishnuvardhan award for veteran actor Rajesh.

For the year 2013, actor Srinath, director P H Vishwanath and producer K V Gupta have been chosen for the awards, respectively.

For 2012, films ‘Tallana’, ‘Bharat Stores’ and ‘Edegarike’ have been adjudged the top three best films, with actor Darshan selected for best actor Subbaiah Naidu award and Nirmala Channappa as the best actress. For 2013, films ‘Haj’ (K C N Gowda award), ‘Jatta’ and ‘Prakruthi’ have been selected as top three films, with Nikhil Manju and Niveditha bagging the best actor and actress award, respectively.

The award ceremony is being held in the city after a gap of 22 years. The last ceremony was held here during the tenure of then chief minister S Bangarappa in 1992.

A total of 60 awards will be distributed, with a melange of cultural programmes planned to entertain the audience. As many as 25,000 cine lovers are expected to attend the programme.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will distribute the awards, while Revenue and district in-charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad and Information and Public Relations Minister R Roshan Baig will release the souvenirs for 2013 and 2012, respectively.
