Resolving confusion over the reopening of schools following the government’s order, many schools affiliated to CBSE and ICSE boards have decided to continue with only online classes for this academic year and not to open off-line classes.

The management representatives of the private unaided schools said they hardly have a month in the current academic year and inviting students to off-line classes in schools at this hour will not yield any results.

The managements said all their students, parents are comfortable with the existing mode of online classes and it is working well for now.

Nooraine Fazal, co-founder and CEO of Inventure Academy, Bengaluru, said, “we have decided not to conduct offline classes up to grade 8 for this current academic year, considering that we have been doing well with the online set-up.”

“Exams for grade 8 are fast approaching and there is no point in inviting students to attend off line classes at this stage.”

The principal of yet another school affiliated to CBSE board said, “we had gathered opinion from parents before deciding on the reopening of classes for grade 8. A majority of parents said they were not willing to send their wards to school as Covid-19 cases are rising again in neighbouring states and also in the city. Hence, we decided to stick to online classes up to grade 8 for this academic year.”

Several parents have backed the schools’ decision.

“Every day, we get to see and read about rising of cases in neighbouring states and BBMP sending out a message to be cautious. While the situation is so alarming, how can we send kids to schools?” said a parent whose child is studying at a ICSE board school in Whitefield.

Some schools affiliated to CBSE board have already concluded the academic year up to grade 9 and announced calendar of events for the next academic year.
