Stray dog mauls toddler in Mysore

According to eyewitnesses, Nikitha was sitting outside her house when the dog pounced on her and bit her on her cheek. To the horror of child’s mother, the animal refused to let go of the child. It finally loosened its grip on the toddler after a passersby kicked it.

Nikitha is admitted to Mission Hospital for treatment.

Outraged by the incident, residents demanded the city corporation to act against the menace.

“The number of stray dogs is on the rise. The Corporation should act immediately and bring down the dog population,” a resident said.

Rabid dog injures 10

Meanwhile, there is simmering anger in Hunsur town after a rabid dog bit 10 people near the tahsildar’s office in Hunsur on Sunday.

The residents have criticised the municipal authorities for failing to control the dog
population despite several appeals.
