Tax sops for maxi cabs ferrying schoolchildren

The government, which has set a revenue collection target of Rs 4,120 crore, proposed a 50 per cent concession in motor vehicles tax to maxi cabs carrying schoolchildren.

Further, the government also proposed a detailed project report for Phase 1 of commuter/suburban rail system connecting Tumkur and Ramanagaram with Bangalore at a cost of Rs 8,759 crore.

The government, which plans to set up RTOs at Banashankari, R T Nagar and Marathalli, besides one each in Hubli and Suratkal, proposed three more automated driving test tracks at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore, besides two Drivers Training Centre for heavy vehicles in Mangalore and Gulbarga at a cost of Rs 30 crore.

Other features

Among other welcome features include the government’s intention to introduce vehicle tracking and monitoring systems and passenger information system in 4,000 vehicles and 45 major bus stations of KSRTC, as part of people’s safety measures and establishment of truck terminal and logistics park at Andhetageri Village near Hubli and truck terminals in Raichur,  Hospet,  Karwar, Mangalore, Hassan and Humnabad.
