The Karnataka and Goa contingent of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) created history by winning the coveted Prime Minister's Banner at the Army Parade Ground New Delhi.

The parade, marked the culmination of a series of gruelling competitions conducted over the last one month in Delhi. The cadets from Karnataka and Goa excelled in drill, firing and cultural performances to surge past their nearest competitors Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Punjab.

The Prime Minister's banner and trophy are awarded for consistently performing well in a plethora of NCC activities over the year, which includes ocean sailing, flying, mountaineering expeditions, adventure activities and more.

Marks are awarded for maintaining high standards of discipline, performing well in NCC certificate exams and on the basis of the number of cadets selected for entry into the Armed Forces.

The Karnataka and Goa Directorate of the National Cadet Corps has 55 battalions spread over six groups located in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Mysuru, Mangaluru and Ballari.

Cadets from remote and rural areas are groomed, trained and mentored by dedicated instructors from the Army, Navy and Airforce. These cadets are put through an exacting selection procedure and 106 of them finally form part of the Republic Day Contingent.
