Assistant Executive Engineer, NHAI Mysore sub-division  S Mahesh Babu said the pothole filling work began five days ago.

This will be followed by asphalting. On the NH 212, a total of 33 km including seven km in Bandipur area, is also being asphalted, he said.

The Union Ministry of Surface Transport has released Rs 9.2 crore. The repair work has been entrusted to one Chandrashekaraiah, a Mysore-based contractor, through e-tendering, Babu said.

A sum of Rs 1.6 crore is required to erect crash barriers along five tanks on the highway. An estimate to this effect has been submitted to the union ministry, he added.
