JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has said that youth under "illusion" were chanting Modi's name on social media without knowing the real achievements of the previous governments at the Centre.
"It is false that only Modi can attack Pakistan. I had been to Pakistan five times during my tenure as prime minister. The people there had poured out their woes to me. Undeclared emergency has been created during Modi rule," Deve Gowda said.
The former prime minister was addressing an election rally in the town on Sunday, seeking votes for JD(S) candidate Anand Asnotikar.
Declaring that he does not harbour prime ministerial ambition, Deve Gowda said that Sonia Gandhi had told him that his (Gowda's) guidance was required for Sonia Gandhi.
Deve Gowda accused Modi of not responding to farmers' problems. He said people have to pay 10% tax even for eating dosa at a hotel under Modi regime.
