Last Updated 06 February 2019, 17:52 IST

Sunni Students' Federation (SSF) national general secretary K M Siddiq Montugoli said that the federation has pledged to build a tolerant India.

Speaking during the Hind Safar - Bharat Yatra organised by SSF at Bal Bhavan in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said that SSF, for the first time in India, has taken out the longest yatra of 14,000-km in 22 states, for the cause of literary and tolerance. No other religious or political party has taken such an initiative.

The rally started off at Kashmir on January 22 and will culminate at Calicut in Kerala on February 7.

Leaders from all religions have welcomed the Bharat Yatra.

SSF state president C T M Tanjal lamented that while the nation has a multicultural and multi-religious fabric, it is sad that people have become less tolerant of other religions these days.

C T M Tanjal and State Muslim Jamat vice president Muhammed Musliar were felicitated on the occasion. SSF national president Shoukath Naeemi was present.
