AirPods Max to get lossless audio and ultra‑low latency audio features soon

Apple will roll out the two important features to its flagship headphones with the new iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4 in early April.

Apple has long offered lossless audio and low-latency audio features to AirPods Pro, standard AirPods models, and Powerbeats Pro with Vision Pro headgear; the AirPods Max didn't have these capabilities.

Apple will soon roll out the two important features to its flagship headphones with the new iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 in early April.

With the new update, AirPods Max will unlock 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, and be able to deliver original recordings without any distortion. This allows users to experience music the way the artist created it in its purest state in the studio. Apple Music subscribers will also be able to enjoy more than 100 million songs in lossless audio as well.

Also, while playing games, there will be a significant reduction in the lag-ness of audio sync between AirPods Max and iPhone/iPad/Mac devices.

And, with the lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio capability, music creators will be able to fully utilise AirPods Max throughout their entire professional workflow on Apple's Logic Pro and other music developer apps.

Using the USB-C cable, AirPods Max will become the only headphones that enable musicians to both create and mix in Personalised Spatial Audio with head tracking capability.

In India, AirPods Max headphones with type-C port are available for Rs 59,900 in five colours — midnight, starlight, blue, purple, and orange.

In a related development, Apple is planning to start production of AirPods for exports at the Foxconn plant in Hyderabad in April.

Airpods is the second product category that Apple will start producing in India after iPhones.
