Avoid escalation, keep communication channels open, US to India, Pakistan
Trump’s National Security Advisor, Marco Rubio, had phone calls with his counterparts in New Delhi and Islamabad, Ajit Doval and Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, after the fighter jets of the Indian Air Force carried out the “Operation Sindoor” to respond to the April 22 killing of 26 people.
Earlier this afternoon, @SecRubio spoke to the national security advisors from India and Pakistan. He urged both to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation.
I am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely. I echo @POTUS's comments earlier today that this hopefully ends quickly and will continue to engage both Indian and Pakistani leadership towards a peaceful resolution.
