Zilla Panchayat has approved an annual action plan of Rs 503.24 crore for the fiscal 2018-19.
Udupi Zilla Panchayat President Dinakar Babu sought the consent of members for the approval of the action plan in order to submit it to the government for early release of funds.
Elaborating on the action plan, officials said works worth Rs 503.24 cr will be taken up for the development of rural roads. Of which Rs 178.14 crore is reserved for the work to be taken up by Zilla Panchayat, Rs 324.43 crore for the works of taluk panchayats and Rs 67 lakh will be reserved for the works to be undertaken by gram panchayats.
A decision was taken to submit the draft report for the 545.22 crore worth action plan to the government.
