On Day 1, deputy mayor courts controversy

Last Updated 10 December 2018, 19:43 IST

Deputy Mayor B Bhadre Gowda triggered a controversy on the first day of assuming office by conducting a 'homa' inside his chamber at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara Palike on Monday.

Proving to be no different from the senior leaders in his party, like Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, the newly elected deputy mayor, too, conducted elaborate rituals at his office on the first day in office.

According to sources in the BBMP, there is no provision to conduct a homa in a government building. But Gowda is said to have violated the rules and performed the 'gana homa' at his official chamber.
