Mayor visits toxic Kaggadasapura Lake

Last Updated 03 December 2018, 12:08 IST

After receiving several complaints about the Kaggadasapura Lake spewing toxic foam, City Mayor R Sampath Raj inspected the lake on Sunday along with the local residents.

The 45-acre Kaggadasapura lake in CV Raman Nagar has been spewing toxic foam and putrid odour for the last few months, making the place virtually unlivable for the residents in nearby apartments and slum dwellings, the residents said.

According to a member of Save Kaggadasapura lake group, the mayor has promised to rejuvenate the lake. “We have apprised him of the issues regarding the lake, and have demanded a redressal of it. He has assured us of help,” he said.

Speaking to DH, R Sampath Raj said, "I visited the spot and had a meeting with the residents, they have explained the situation. I will be directing the concerned officials to take steps to rejuvenate the lake soon."
