Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi visited Rajghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, on Sunday, marking the beginning of the day of his swearing-in ceremony with tributes to the Father of the Nation.
Modi is set to begin his third straight term as prime minister.
Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is set to take oath on Sunday for a third straight term as the head of a coalition government after two full tenures in which the BJP enjoyed a majority on its own.
Modi, 73, will be equalling the feat of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who won in 1952, 1957 and 1962 general elections.
Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Maldives Mohamed Muizzu, Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay have accepted invitations to the ceremony.
There are 543 Lok Sabha seats, in some the BJP won and in some it lost but Narendra Modi is set to become the prime minister for a third time with Lord Ram's blessings, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.

Two MPs from NDA ally, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), are set to take oath today evening, along with Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi. Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Guntur MP Pemmasani Chandrasekhar will be joining the Union Cabinet.
Top leaders of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius and Seychelles are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Hotels in the city such as The Leela, Taj, ITC Maurya, Claridges and Oberoi have already been brought under the security cover.

Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal arrives in Delhi. Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and his Bhutanese counterpart Tshering Tobgay also arrived in Delhi on Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi.
Dahal, Jugnauth, Muizzu and Tobgay are among the leaders of seven countries from India's neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region attending the swearing-in ceremony of Modi and his council of ministers this evening at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Bangladesh President Sheikh Hasina and Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif arrived in Delhi on Saturday. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe will also attend the ceremony.
BJP leader Mansukh Mandaviya interacted with the workers who were involved in the construction of the new Parliament building. These workers have been invited for the swearing-in ceremony of PM-designate Narendra Modi. They will be going to Rashtrapati Bhavan from the residence of BJP leader Mansukh Mandaviya.
Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP chief Ajit Pawar says, "Praful Patel has served as a cabinet minister in the central government and we did not feel right in taking Minister of State with independent charge. So we told them (BJP) that we are ready to wait for a few days, but we want a cabinet ministry. We are going to attend the swearing-in ceremony today..." He further said, "We have one Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha MP today, but in the next 2-3 months we will have a total of 3 members in the Rajya Sabha and our number of MPs in Parliament will be 4. So we said we should be given one (cabinet ministry) seat."
Before the ceremony, BJP MP and former Social Justice and Empowerment minister Virendra Kumar felicitated the transgender community members at his residence. Meanwhile, BJP MP and former Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat felicitated sanitation workers.
"This is a part of Prime Minister Modi's call of 'sabka saath sabka vishwas and sabha prayas'. Including people from the transgender community in the ceremony is to enhance the inclusivity message of the PM," Kumar told media.
This is the first time that people from the transgender community are formally invited to the swearing-in ceremony.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur, when asked about his role after being excluded from the Cabinet, he said: "I was an MP before, and I am an MP today as well. I was a party worker before, and I will continue to work as a party worker."
He also said, "I congratulate PM Modi and his entire Cabinet. All these people are... someone is related to Namo App, someone from Viksit Bharat Abhiyan, someone found a mention in PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat... all these people have come to attend the swearing-in ceremony."
"...Last night we were informed that our party will get a Minister of State with independent charge...I was earlier a Cabinet Minister in the Union Government, so this will be a demotion for me. We have informed the BJP leadership and they have already told us to just wait for a few days, they will take remedial measures..." said the NCP leader.
Rajnikanth, Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher will attend Modi's oath-taking. Besides them, actors Akshay Kumar, Vikrant Massey and film-maker Rajkumar Hirani are also attending the oath ceremony of PM-designate Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

Modi chose a white kurta and churidar with a blue chequered jacket as he took oath for the consecutive third time on Sunday. Modi paired his dress with black shoes for the swearing-in ceremony at the forecourts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Kurtas and bandhgala jackets are Modi's popular choice on important occasions. He is also known for sporting flamboyant and colourful turbans during Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.

Nearly 9,000 people were estimated to be present at the forecourts of the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the event. Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge was present among guests that included foreign heads of state and celebs. However, in a first, several opposition leaders skipped the ceremony, including TMC's Mamata Banerjee.
Besides Modi, prime minister and ex-Gujarat CM, the other ex-CMs include HD Kumaraswamy (Karnataka), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Rajnath Singh (Uttar Pradesh), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), H D Kumaraswamy (Karnataka), and Jitan Ram Manjhi (Bihar).
