During a special drive conducted by the Delhi Metro across all Metro lines, 338 male passengers were fined in less than 10 days for travelling in coaches reserved for women.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had organised a special drive recently to check male passengers forcefully travelling in women coaches after receiving several complaints from women. Seven teams were formed to check any such violation and even fine those who were found eating inside the trains. The team comprised Metro officials and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.  “We run these checks on a regular basis. We plan to conduct more checks in the near future as well to keep a check on the issue,” said a DMRC official. Nearly 1,500 male passengers were counselled by the officers as they were new in Delhi. “Some were travelling on the metro for the first time, while some were travelling with babies and families so they were not aware that male passengers are not allowed to travel on women coaches,” said the official. DMRC collected Rs 84,500 from the fine collected from 388 passengers.
