In this role, Borkakoty would report to Nipun Goel, Head of Investment Banking for India, and Mark Williams, Head of ECM for Asia ex-Japan, Nomura India said in a statement.
"This appointment is crucial to our strategy of building the leading ECM franchise in Asia. India accounted for 16 per cent of the total ECM volume in Asia ex-Japan in the first half of this year and is an important market for our ECM business," Williams said.

Prior to joining Nomura, Borkakoty has worked for five years with Kotak Mahindra Capital where he headed ECM. Before that, he has served at ICICI Securities, KPMG, and Lazard.
The investment major believes that Borkakoty, who has 15 years of experience, would bring an extensive track record in equity capital markets.

Nomura India received its merchant banking licence in December 2008 and has a strong investment banking presence in Mumbai providing relationship coverage, merger and acquisition advisory and execution, and capital markets expertise.

Nomura is one of the top-tier advisory firms in India with industry leading cross-border credentials. It has also received its non-banking financial company (NBFC) license in India
