Attica Gold MD and family booked for assaulting cops

The police have registered an FIR against the founder and managing director of Attica Gold Company Bommanahalli Babu, his wife, daughter and six others including a retired DySP for assaulting policemen who went to arrest him on September 18, following a court order.

In his complaint before the Vidhana Soudha police, the Tavarekere police inspector stated that when they came to arrest Babu and his staffers Bhavani and Vasantha Kumari, Babu, his wife, daughter and his other employees obstructed government servants from discharging their duties and assaulted and also abused him, a circle inspector and other police personnel.

Manjunath Talwar, assistant commissioner of police of Cubbon Park sub-division said the police lodged an FIR against 10 people including Babu for assaulting and abusing policemen on duty. Babu is under Tavarekere police custody and after interrogation, he and the others will be arrested.

Babu was arrested on Tuesday following a robbery complaint filed by Venkatesh a businessman from Laggere. Later, the Tavarekere police nabbed the gang who confessed that they had pledged the booty with Attica Gold Company. Later, a raid was conducted on Attica Gold Company and the gold was recovered. A case was filed against Attica for buying stolen jewellery without proper bills and not seeking any details before buying the jewels. The Tavarekere police summoned Babu a couple of times and when he did not turn up, they took permission from the court and arrested him on Tuesday. The police produced him before the court and sought six days' police custody till Monday, said Ramesh B, superintendent of police, Ramanagaram district.
