Unhappy with his class 10 score, Anirudh Varna applied for revaluation and found his ranking position scale to the second best in the state.

A student of the Widia Poornaprajna School in the city, Varna had scored 619 out of 625 on the first count of his scores. But he believed he actually deserved more and applied for a recount, which took his score to 624 out of 625.

"When I saw the score of 619, I hung my head in shame. I expected more," he told DH. "In Mathematics, I had to get one additional mark. I knew that would not be possible. In English, I was confident that I had performed really well."

He applied for revaluation after checking the scanned copy of his answer sheets and ascertained that he should have gotten an extra five marks. Varna had to wait for nearly a month to get the revised scores.

"I felt very happy after (revaluation). My preparations for the exams were not rigorous. Teachers helped me prepare better. Solving old papers was helpful, too. Next, I'm hoping to crack JEE," he added.

Meanwhile, over 2,500 students had their PU scores reversed after applying for the revaluation. Sources in the PU department said the difference in scores ranged from 10 to 38 marks.
