Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, an avid dog lover, took to the popular microblogging site on Friday to express his joy at the BBMP's decision to withdraw pet licensing bylaws.

Parameshwara posted a heartwarming picture of him posing alongside his Great Dane, which recently passed away. Parameshwara posted: "Pets are part of the Family. Here is a picture very special to me. With our Great Dane who passed away recently. By all our popular demand, the #BBMP has withdrawn the pet licensing bylaws. Lets celebrate by sharing our favourite pet photos #NammaPets".

Through the post, Parameshwara encouraged his followers to share their favourite pictures with their pets to celebrate the decision, and tag it with #NammaPets.

The state government on Friday issued a notification, stating that the Palike had withdrawn its pet licensing bylaws following requests from animal lovers, pet parents and animal organisations, which had opposed the same.
