Last Updated 28 January 2019, 18:50 IST

An SSLC student was found dead at his residence in Talagattapura near Subramanyapura on Sunday night. The 15-year-old committed suicide by hanging, the police said.

Dhanush, son of Narasamma, and a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Nagar was pursuing SSLC at a private school. Narasamma, who returned home after buying groceries found her son hanging from the ceiling at around 6:30 pm.

However, police found a suicide note from Dhanush's room which said -- "I am sorry Pavi, I am leaving you".

Police have learnt that Dhanush was recently beaten and scolded by his teacher at school after which he was depressed.

Narasamma also told the police that Dhanush was depressed after his father’s death.

"We are investigating all angles to know the exact reason behind his suicide. We are also probing who 'Pavi' is. The school had declared a holiday on Monday after Dhanush's death, so we could not gather information from his friends, classmates or teacher. But on Tuesday, we are going to record their statements to get more information about Dhanush and his behaviour in his classroom," a senior police officer said.

According to the police, Narasamma, a single parent, makes a living as a domestic help. Her second son, Sanath, works as a newspaper delivery boy.
