Road history to be poll plank of AAP

Last Updated 22 April 2014, 20:02 IST

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to take up geo-information-based road history as an issue for the forthcoming BBMP elections next year. The party has also decided to look into scams in the BBMP and would raise them up at the ward level.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, the national executive committee member of the AAP, Prithvi Reddy, said that the party is aware of the fact that the GIS-based road history has been prepared, but not implemented. He said the party will also review the necessity and quality of the work, sanctioned amount and expenditure.

The party has also decided to field shadow corporators, who will keep track of all the works taking place at the ward level and would file RTI applications seeking information.

Meanwhile, the BJP corporator Manjunath Raju, who was instrumental in designing this road history, has blamed the BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana for the delay in its implementation.

Some corporators complained that the quality of the Rs 400 cr-asphalting work in the City was not up to the mark and needed to be monitored. They said they would take it up with Mayor Sathyanarayana and the commissioner.
